About Morton County Law Enforcement Center
This is the only locally documented adult detention location found in Morton County's official material. The county describes a shared law-enforcement center serving the Sheriff's Office and Elkhart Police Department. It also houses the 911 Communications Center, connects to the courthouse, and has its public entrance on Richards Street.
No official capacity figure, population statistic, release schedule, waiting-area instruction, transportation plan, property-return rule, release-day fee, or online retention period was located. Those facts should not be filled from commercial jail directories. Ask the Sheriff about the present practice.
Three Morton County Release Record Trails
The shared complex can create three different records from one episode. Elkhart Police or the Sheriff's Office controls the arrest trail. The jail custodian controls admission, custody, transfer, and release entries. The district or municipal court controls the case and disposition. Physical closeness does not merge legal custody of those records.

A state charge usually points to Morton County District Court. An Elkhart ordinance matter can point to municipal court. The arrest location alone does not select the correct docket.
Request Morton County Facility Records

A court order can support why Morton custody should end, but the order's filing time is not always the door-release time. A Sheriff event confirms whether processing occurred and where the person went. “Time served” can still be followed by transfer on another hold.

The official county material does not state release hours, the exit used by released people, property pickup procedure, transportation, waiting instructions, or release-day charges. VINELink is a notification and custody-status tool, not a permanent release archive. Kansas Attorney General material says Kansas VINE tracks offenders housed in participating county jails and does not include KDOC state prisoners. Search one person, match the agency and identifiers, and register only through the controls tied to the correct record.
A telephone alert may use a four-digit PIN for acknowledgment. The PIN belongs to the recipient's alert setup, not the person in custody. When a notice arrives, read whether it reports release, transfer, or escape. Then call the supplying agency. For a state transfer, switch to KASPER.
Morton County Court Release Proof
The Morton County District Court is part of the six-county 26th Judicial District. Its docket can show bond, dismissal, judgment, sentence, jail credit, probation, revocation, or another order related to the custody event. The Clerk's phone is 620-697-2563. Online case information may not include each public document, so the courthouse terminal or a clerk request can be necessary.
An Elkhart city-ordinance charge may instead belong to municipal court. Since the Center serves both Elkhart Police and the Sheriff, identify the filed court rather than relying only on arresting agency. A bond order does not end the charge, and a release entry does not state the final case result.
Older Law Enforcement Center Releases
For an older event, reverse the live-status workflow. Find the court case and then request the archived jail entry. Give a date range narrow enough to locate the booking. Ask whether the jail-management record still exists and whether archived material has moved to another custodian.
If the person entered state prison, KASPER may preserve sentence, custody, supervision, discharge, and image data after release. It is not a complete criminal history and cannot replace the Morton County jail record. BOP and ICE likewise answer only for their own systems.
